Enjoy Great Water Fountains in Portland
Portland is a very exotic city that is located in the Northwestern region of United States of America. It is exactly located between the Columbia and Willamette Rivers in the beautiful state of Oregon. This city is famous all around the world for its exquisite water fountains that are constructed using marvelous designs and structures. These fountains really make Portland a great tourist location.
In this article, I would mainly like to tell you about some of the most famous fountains that are located in Portland.
1. Pioneer Courthouse Square Fountain
This mesmerizing fountain is also known as the "Portland's Living Room" and was constructed in 1970 when the government of the country acquired this piece of land for public use. This fountain was completely destroyed after sometime but it was renovated by the government with the help of 1, 20,000 dollars. It is a splendid fountain and can really mesmerize you with its cascading flow of water which is one of the main features of this structure.
2. Ira Keller Forecourt fountain
Ira Keller Forecourt fountain is located in the heart of Portland and it
was designed by Michael Lawrence Halprin. He created the design just to resemble the waterfall that is located in this area. It was constructed in 1971 and is located opposite the Portland's City Auditorium. This attractive structure really amazes people because it pumps approximately 13,000 gallons of water per minute.
3. Salmon Street Spring Fountain
Salmon Street Springs Fountain is a grand structure that is situated in Tom McCall Waterfront Park which is one of the most urban areas of the city. The fountain together with lush green grounds and the splendor of the western bank of the Willamette River can really rejuvenate your senses. The water spray and the inward-facing jets of the fountain are controlled by a computer which is concealed underneath the main structure.
4. "Benson Bubblers" Fountain
This is a great tourist attraction of Portland and is also known as one of the best fountains of this city. It is constructed with highly ornate bronze metal that gives a great appearance to the fountain during the bright summer months.
5. Skidmore Fountain
This splendid fountain was constructed by Stephen Skidmore in the year 1878. This fountain was constructed according to the structure of the fountain that Stephen Skidmore saw in France. This structure has an impressive design and it was built for the convenience of the general public, dogs and livestock.
